USM Haller installation Genova. Modular living, tiny home, smart working, furniture

The 77R, a small experimental space in the historic fabric of Canneto il Lungo in Genoa, changes its configuration once again.

Following an initial investigation dedicated to the theme of living in minimal spaces, Mobilia and llabb architettura continue their research into the transformations of contemporary environments, focusing on the increasingly blurred relationship between the domestic and working dimensions.

In recent years, smart working, hyper-connectivity, and the progressive dissolution of boundaries between private and professional time have profoundly altered the way we use spaces.
The home has been transformed into an office, the office has taken on domestic characteristics, and environments have become changing settings, called upon to accommodate different activities throughout the same day.

The project stems from the direct observation of this condition.
The figures involved indeed share a fluid and multidisciplinary professional practice, in which work takes on different forms depending on the needs: client meetings, design, research, model production, supply coordination, and operational activities. A succession of actions that requires spaces capable of continuously adapting without losing their identity.

The layout interprets this need through an open system, capable of changing over time and in space. For this reason, the research has developed around USM Haller, a system that, more than sixty years after its introduction, continues to represent a reference in the debate on design as a flexible and durable infrastructure.
More than furnishing elements, USM modules become spatial devices: containers, work surfaces, elements of separation or aggregation that can be reconfigured, moved, and recomposed as needed.
The presence of mobile elements on wheels further emphasizes this dynamic dimension, transforming the space into a platform capable of accommodating different uses and scenarios.
