For Genova Design Week, Mobilia brought Moroso’s M’Afrique collection to Piazza Luccoli, with an event dedicated to the story and the people behind the project.
Patrizia Moroso, the brand’s art director, and Abdoul Salam Gaye, the collection’s curator, shared how the project began in Dakar and described the dialogue between international designers and Senegalese artisans, who create the furnishings using the traditional technique of weaving. At the end of the talk, which drew a crowd to the piazza, the dancing began with a set by Filo Q and Jo Choneca, performing together for the first time to the sounds of amapiano, kwaito, and disco.
